BIBLICAL PROBLEM SOLVING AND
SPIRITUAL GROWTH WORKSHEET

v Find a place where you can be alone with this worksheet, several sheets of paper, Renewal Prayer, and your Bible.

v Pray through your Renewal Prayer, then ask God to search your heart and help you to understand and grow from the circumstances He has allowed in your life.

v Read Hebrews 12:1-17.

v Now, very prayerfully complete the following steps:

1. Describe in writing the events that led up to this problem.

2. Ask God to show you what things you did wrong and write them down as they come into your mind.

3. Ask God to show you the wrong thoughts or motives you have had which resulted in doing the wrong things.

4. Read I John 1:4-10 4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

5. Confess to God your wrong motives and actions. "Lord, I confess ______________________________, thank you that in Christ I am forgiven."

6. After you have confessed, ask God to show you what lessons or character traits He is trying to teach you. Write these down.

7. Ask God if there is anything He wants you to do in response to what He has shown you. Write these things down.

8. Spend a few moments reflecting on the love and mercy of God in your life. Write down some of the ways that God has shown His love and mercy to you. Thank Him is prayer for every area you wrote down.

9. Now, read the following note.

My Child,

Thank you for taking the time to seek me with your problems. Please be reassured of my love for you. While the training may be painful sometimes, don’t mistake that pain for punishment. I took all of your punishment for you. I am just answering your prayers for my help. I know you are my child and you have a strong desire to please me. Please don’t condemn yourself because of your mistakes. I forgive you and will always be patient with you. Please forgive yourself and be patient with yourself.

I am pleased with your faith in my ability to change your life. It is through these trials that you will learn to better trust me; you will learn to let me live through you; you will learn that nothing can give you the love, joy and peace that I can. I have assured you in my Word that I will be faithful to complete the good work I have started in you. The more you surrender to and trust in my ability instead of your own, the easier it will get.

It is very important to me that you know that I am not angry with you. I am very happy that you have come back into my presence. I wanted you to feel my presence and love right now, so I sent my Spirit into your heart crying "Abba Father". Please accept His comfort and love; let Him store the joy of your salvation. You’ll need the strength that comes from His joy to make the changes we have talked about. No matter how you may feel, always remember, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee."

I love you,

Jesus
